Eco Week and Science Week 2024

The Eco-Week is a cornerstone of our school's annual events, aiming to instill in our pupils the principles of sustainable living and equip them with practices they can incorporate into their daily lives for years to come. The engaging activities prepared by the teachers this year included:  STEAM competitions organized by the Science Department, a second-hand clothes bazaar, games using upcycled materials,  a workshop station on creating recycled paper, demonstration of a working model of collection and reuse of water in a house, some Art by paintings on the drains to raise water pollution awareness, our team reBLUE continued promoting their project and took it to the next stage presenting their work to our sister schools: PASCAL Private Primary School Lefkosia and PASCAL Private English School Larnaka.

The week also included the promotion of composting education through a poster competition and with the help of our diligent Junior Achievement team Composeeds, which has created a student-company that promotes the use of compost.  Competitions also ran in parallel:  a group of pupils participated in the BSM Online International Hachathlon, organized by Junior Achievement Cyprus and Asia, where the challenge was to work with pupils from Asia (India and Philippines) to solve the challenge: "Reduction of Food Waste in Shipping using AI". Also, a group of pupils represented the School in the European Competition EU-Conexus, where they passed the first round and attended the National Stage by presenting their product made fully out of upcycled materials.

Lastly, in collaboration with the municipality of Strovolos (Nicosia) and the attendance of its Mayor, Mr. Andreas Papacharalambos, our Year 5 International Baccalaureate pupils gave back to community by planting 40 trees in the Strovolos area in Nicosia. Many thanks to the Municipality for its diligence, enthusiasm and efforts towards contributing to a more sustainable future.
