PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia Biology Students Explore Cyprus's Freshwater and Coastal Ecosystems

As part of the PASCAL Eco Week 2026, the IGCSE, A Level, and IBDP Biology students embarked on an unforgettable field trip to Kritou Terra and Akamas National Park between 20–21 March 2026.

During the first day, students explored a freshwater stream near Kritou Terra. They discovered a variety of plants and small animals living in the water and learned how these organisms survive in their environment. Using simple scientific equipment, students observed their findings closely and learned about food chains, food webs, and adaptations in freshwater ecosystems. 

On the second day, the group visited the coastline of Akamas National Park. There, students explored the seashore and rock pools, carefully observing small sea creatures and learning how life changes along the coast. They also discussed how nature and human activity can affect coastal environments. 

Throughout the trip, students worked together in teams, asked questions, shared ideas, and followed basic steps of the scientific method. The activities encouraged curiosity, teamwork, and respect for the natural environment. 

This enriching experience was a wonderful way to conclude PASCAL Eco Week 2026, giving students the opportunity to learn outside the classroom while enjoying and appreciating Cyprus’s unique natural environment.
