PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia Wins National Kompost Project Competition for the Second Consecutive Year

PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia is proud to announce that its Science Department has been awarded First Prize in the national Kompost Project Competition, organised by Citizens in Power, for the second consecutive year.

The school received the €300 award in recognition of the significant amount of compost produced and the volume of organic waste recycled throughout the academic year. The judging panel also praised the school's wide range of sustainability initiatives, the active participation of students and teachers, and its strong commitment to the programme's objectives.

As part of their Environmental Science and Environmental Management lessons, students regularly monitored and maintained the school's compost bin, gaining practical experience in sustainable waste management. The compost produced was later used in the school garden, allowing students to observe the complete cycle of transforming organic waste into nutrient-rich soil while developing a deeper understanding of the circular economy.

This achievement was made possible through the valuable support of the School Canteen and Cafeteria staff, who collected fruit and vegetable scraps throughout the year for composting. Their contribution highlights the importance of collaboration across the entire school community.

By reducing organic waste sent to landfill and promoting sustainable practices, PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia continues to inspire environmental responsibility and climate action.
