Shakespeare Comes Alive: PASCAL Pupils Shine in Luxembourg

The magic of Shakespeare travelled with our pupils to Luxembourg, from where PASCAL Private Secondary School Lefkosia students recently returned after an unforgettable cultural journey, proudly representing our school at the International Schools Shakespeare Festival, hosted by St. George's International School between the 20th – 24th of January 2026.

After months of preparation, rehearsals, and unwavering dedication, the cast brought A Midsummer Night’s Dream vividly to life on stage. Their performance was a celebration of talent, teamwork, and passion for theatre, earning admiration from peers and educators alike. Beyond the spotlight, pupils collaborated and problem solved, strengthened their performance skills, and gained confidence in a truly international setting. Costumes were crafted by our talented pupils, while props were 3D-printed in our Space Centre and polished by the Head of our Arts Department Ms. Andrea Leonidas; a perfect blend of creativity, technology, and theatre.

However, the experience extended well beyond the stage. During their stay, pupils enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the Grand Theatre of Luxembourg, where they observed theatre professionals at work and engaged in discussions about stagecraft and performance. The cultural programme also included visits to iconic landmarks across Luxembourg City, including Melusina, a striking 3D-printed sculpture inspired by the legend of the shape-shifting mermaid, as well as several historical sites in the medieval heart of the city.

Pupil reflections capture the spirit of the journey:

“We had an amazing time! Walking around the city of Luxembourg was unforgettable.”
Athina, Year 1

“Our backstage tour of the Grand Theatre was fascinating because it has movable seats and a second floor.”
Constantinos, Year 2

“This experience was unlike any other! The play went great, and I’m so happy I met people I would have never bonded with otherwise.”
Renata, Year 4

Alongside the spectators and guest Judge, who gave the most positive and encouraging feedback to the team, our educators are equally proud of the pupils’ achievements:

“I was extremely impressed by the pupils’ ability to work together, their commitment, and the quality of their performance. I am incredibly proud of their exemplary behaviour throughout the experience.”

Ms. Elena Manoli

Our participation in the festival was organized by our School Play Director Ms. Rebecca Apostolidou, who prepared the pupils’ performance, with invaluable support from the accompanying teachers Ms. Kiveli Hadjinikola, Ms. Katerina Xanthou and Ms. Elena Manoli whose guidance and encouragement were key throughout the journey.

A journey of art, collaboration, and imagination, this Shakespearean adventure will remain a cherished memory for all involved.
