From 9–13 March, our school celebrated Book Week, a wonderful week dedicated to fostering a love of reading, storytelling, and creativity among our students.

Throughout the week, students took part in a variety of engaging activities. One of the highlights was Dress Up as a Book Character Day on 11 March, when the school was filled with beloved characters from children’s literature. Students also explored their creativity by writing their own book blurbs, learning how authors capture readers’ attention and invite readers into a story.

Our Reading Buddies sessions brought students together across year groups, with Year 4 reading with Pre-Reception and Year 5 reading with Reception, creating special moments of shared reading and connection.

On 12 March, we welcomed Bibliocosmos Bookshop, giving students the opportunity to browse and purchase books, further encouraging their enthusiasm for reading.

Another highlight of the week was the visit of Cypriot author Tania Pirilidou, who presented her children’s book It’s OK and led an engaging activity with Year 1–3 students on 11 March, inspiring our young readers and writers.

A heartfelt thank you to the Book Week Committee, Ms. Elaine Charalambous, Ms. Eleni Georgiou, and Ms. Elena Constantinou, for organising such a rich and exciting programme, and to Ms. Effie Thomson for coordinating the week’s activities.

It was truly a week full of stories, imagination, and a celebration of the joy of reading!
